Moemoeā: A solo exhibition by Maioha Kara

Laree Payne is pleased to present Maioha Kara's (Ngati Korokii Kahukura, Ngati Tipa, Te Ātihaunui-A-Papārangi, Tūhourangi, Te Whānau a Hinetapora, Kuki Airani) third solo exhibition with the Gallery, Moemoeā. 

A focused exhibition consisting of variations of just two forms, the waha (which also appears as a manawa or heart) alongside the porotaka (circle), Moemoeā seeks to express sources of nourishment which together, feed a sense of wholeness. Drawing from and isolating motifs present within her fathers work for many years, Kara upholds whakapapa as the keystone of this, supported by aroha, kōrero and an ever-unfurling appreciation for the dynamism found within te ao Māori.
